Humberview Trucks is looking for a Licensed Truck Technician/Tower Operator to join their team in Etobicoke.
The Truck Technician/Tower Operator is responsible for contributing to the operational effectiveness of the Service Department and to ensure positive CSI results by maximizing shop utilization and labour efficiency of all technicians.
The individual will ensure that all vehicles advance through the shop in a timely and efficient manner during the shift, while at the same time working along side Technicians to complete mechanical repairs and diagnostics. Essentially being the Lead Hand distributing work from the Tower and overseeing the workflow of jobs in and out of the shop.

Job Duties:
- Monitoring and directing shop distribution to maximize total billed hours output of the Afternoon Shift from on the shop floor.
- Assigning jobs that keep all techs working and utilizing all available resources and shop space.
- Assign job cards to technicians, based on promise times and repair complexity. book tech labour when jobs are completed, release jobs off hold when parts arrive or when approved.
- Add job lines to repair orders as needed to facilitate repairs under warranty authorization IE: added operations to split repair times or replacement parts, “a repair necessary” to make the truck mobile.
- Prioritize all comebacks with techs and review repairs, monitor job status, workflows, communicate changes to advisors, or units ready for quality road tests.
- Facilitate tech assignments to avoid unnecessary delays.
- Ensure time punches are accurate, workflow of parts requests and estimates are maintained, and vehicles are moved out of the shop when jobs are completed or put on hold.
- Ensure all jobs are compliant with manufacturer policies and procedures including OLH approvals, adequate punch marks, supporting photos/ forms, authorization # to case.
- Periodic Audit of warranty parts return by technicians and address deficiencies.
- Complete all technical training assigned to maintain certification.
- Participate in shop meetings, Understand and follow legislation and workplace health and safety requirements, Ensure adherence to high quality of conduct and workmanship from Technicians.
- Meet regularly with Service manager to review shop performance, and track tech billed hours and efficiency data. Implement measures to improve efficiency, shop utilization, tech punctuality, streamlining flow of work, reducing unapplied time, etc.
- Hold a general duty to take responsibility for personal Health & Safety, In addition, managerial/supervisory roles require consistent and visible leadership in Health & Safety behaviours and actions.
- Participate in Hands On repairs and diagnostics of Trucks to assist with shop output.
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Diagnose the source of any malfunctions and perform repair.
What We Look For:
- 3 Years of related hands-on experience in Truck repairs and diagnostic repairs.
- 310T Certificate of Qualification or 310T Registered Apprentice.
- Knowledge of CDK, Decesiv, Payroll, Accounting, and generating estimates.
- Ability to lead others, dispatch work, motivate staff and influence positive outcomes.
- Strong aptitude of technical/mechanical repairs.
- Good time management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Dealership experience would be considered an asset.
- Able to work well with a team.
- A desire to achieve the very best in customer service and teamwork.
